Life on the property is shared with a few permanent residents, all with their own personalities and routines. While they're part of what makes this place special, they're also animals first and foremost, so we ask guests to admire them respectfully and give them plenty of space.
Billie joined our family from a rescue centre and has the gentlest nature. She's happiest hanging around the grounds, supervising activities from a comfortable distance, or finding a sunny spot to relax in.
If you're lucky, she may decide you're worth keeping company for a while.
Kingsley is our Bengal and firmly believes that everything happening on the property is his business.
Playful, inquisitive, adventurous, and wonderfully stubborn, he's always investigating something. Whether it's a new guest, an open door, or a project underway, Kingsley likes to be involved.
Lucy and Ivy are our resident geese and are often seen wandering the property as they make their daily rounds between the ponds.
They're naturally curious and enjoy keeping an eye on what's happening around them, but they generally prefer to keep their distance from people. The best approach is simply to let them go about their day.
A little word of caution: geese take personal space seriously. If they feel cornered, threatened, or are startled unexpectedly, they may react defensively. Please avoid approaching them, chasing them, or attempting to feed them, and they'll happily continue on their way.
Their story is one of our favourites.
When we purchased the property, Lucy came with it. At the time, we believed Lucy was female (hence the name), Lucy's constant companion was a duck we named Lucky. When Lucky eventually passed away, Lucy was clearly lost. We'd heard geese can form strong lifelong bonds, so we decided to find Lucy a companion.
Not wanting a flock of goslings, we chose another female goose and welcomed Ivy to the property.
Only later did we discover that Lucy wasn't actually a Lucy at all.
By that stage, the name had stuck, and so had the friendship. Lucy and Ivy have been inseparable ever since. If one wanders off, you'll often hear them calling out to each other across the property until they're reunited.
Kingsley - always has us laughing
Billie - She's our beautiful rescue girl
